Disposable Cups

Disposable Cups

Restaurants that do a lot of takeout or drive-thru business will want to have a supply of disposable cups on hand. However, there is increasing concern about the food service industry’s environmental impact, and disposables made from petroleum-based polymers or polystyrene can sometimes do more harm than good, to both the environment and your business. Consumers are embracing the green revolution and will actually pay a little bit more for products or services that reflect responsible environmental stewardship. Luckily, for the eco-conscious restaurant and consumer, there are a number of disposable cups on the market that are made from renewable resources, like corn. These cups can quickly biodegrade under commercial composting conditions. Even if a commercial composting facility is not available, biodegradable disposable cups that end up in a landfill are still better for the environment. Though items in a landfill take a long time to break down, disposables made from renewable resources will not leach toxic material into the environment if tossed into a landfill.
